The Hapsburg Lace Moon Jellyfish are a beginners canvas work design and the Nettle Jellyfish is an intermediate canvas work design. The lacy stitches are worked in Perle cotton on 18 count mono canvas. It is a counted thread needlework technique, great for all level of stitches and can be worked in the hand in your most comfy chair (no frame necessary). It is also a good project to take with you when you are traveling as it is easy to pick up and put down without losing your place and without having to deal with lots of different threads. The Hapsburg lace patterns are worked from a chart and the instruction booklet in the kit has lots of step-by-step diagrams and instructions on how to work each pattern. The tentacles are worked in outline stitch the nettle jellyfish tentacles have buttonhole stitch over top to give the tentacles dimension. The moon jellyfish are embellished with blue florescent beads and the nettle jellyfish is embellished with orange, pink and purple florescent beads and the water around the tentacles has green and yellow florescent beads. The Hapsburg lace technique gets is name from a Lady from the Hapsburg dynasty who developed the style, selecting the most lacy canvas stitches to mimic real lace in the form of needlework.
