Check Thread (Crinkle Cordonnet)

I carry three sizes of check thread also known as Crinkle Cordonnet in French: 8 X 2 (Size 7) check thread is the finest of the three check threads that I carry and is approximately 0.5 mm across the width of the thread. 16 X 3 (Size 8) check thread is approximately 0.75 mm across the width of the thread. 36 X 6 check thread is the thickest of the three check threads that I carry and is approximately 1 mm across the width of the thread. The thread has a wavy (kinked) serpentine appearance and is similar to Rococco but has a closer wave. Check thread is couched down singularly or two strands at a time as a filling or outline. Check thread is made up of a fine metal wire wrapped around a fibre core. The wire is copper based with a gold or silver plating and will tarnish over time.
