The Cross-Stitch Meets Blackwork Designs are great transition designs for those new to blackwork and who have previously done cross-stitch, although no experience of cross-stitch or counted thread is necessary. The Landscape is good for beginners, it is worked from a chart and has a detailed instruction booklet which has step-by-step numbered diagrams and instructions to guide you through the blackwork patterns. This is a fun design to pass away some time. If you have never done counted work then you may want to work the embroidery on 14 or 16 count Aida as the fabric is the easiest to work the patterns on. The design looks great in colour and variegated embroidery thread if you are not partial to black. Approximately 8 meters of a 6 strand embroidery thread is required for the embroidery. A stitching light and magnification are an asset to work the embroidery. The fabric has even weave threads (all threads are the same thickness). The patterns come out more even on the even weave fabric compared to the linen fabric. 28 Count Cashel Linen: 100% Linen. The fabric has uneven weave threads (threads are different thicknesses) giving a natural look. 32 Count Lugana: 52% cotton and 48% Rayon.
