The Blackwork Study of Cats design is a Level 3: Advanced of my Further Education designs and is an excellent embroidery to work prior to the Blackwork Elephant as it uses the same patterns and shading method. Each cat has its own blackwork pattern, dimension is created by changing the thickness of the thread and changing the density of the pattern. There are 26 pages of detailed instructions with step-by-step numbered patterns to guide you through the embroidery and there is the option of getting the five PDF files with work-in-progress photos of each cat which are set up as lessons. Each PDF file is at least 25 pages long with over 30 pictures and instructions in each PDF file. The embroidery is worked in the tissue paper transfer method. This is an easier method than working the pattern directly from a set chart as there is more versatility where each pattern can be worked so is less complicated to work. There is not a full chart of the embroidery in the instructions. The blackwork cats are an advanced design not intended to be worked on 14 or 16 count Aida, so you should be able to count on 28 count or 32 count fabric. A stitching light and magnification are an asset to work the embroidery.
